Nana Oduro Sarfo, an Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has expressed his shock over the unexpected resignation of Laryea Kingston.
The former Ghana international resigned on Saturday from his role as head coach of the Black Starlets after the team's failure to reach the final of the ongoing 2024 WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship.
Ghana faced a 2-1 defeat against Burkina Faso at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in their semifinal match.
"The Executive Council was surprised by Laryea Kingston's decision to resign from his job because we have a game to play against Nigeria on Tuesday," Sarfo told Asempa FM.
"The Management Committee informed us about Kingston's decision via a letter after he had notified the team post-match, which was quite unexpected."
Assistant coach Jacob Nartey will now lead the team in the 3rd and 4th place game against Nigeria on Tuesday at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
