Mr. Kudjoe Fianoo, the Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), has emphasized that only qualified teams will participate in the GHALCA Top Four competition this season.
He firmly stated that the Association will not compromise on the integrity of the competition, and only the four teams that finished in the top four will have the opportunity to compete for honors.
The eligible teams for this year's competition, according to Kudjoe Fianoo, are Medeama SC, Aduana Stars, Bechem United, and Asante Kotoko. Planning for the event is already underway, with discussions taking place with potential sponsors and clubs involved.
He further explained that the Association has experimented with different formats in the past, including top four, top six, and top eight competitions. After assessing the competitiveness of each format, they have decided to stick with the top four, which they believe brings out the best in the participating teams.
In conclusion, Mr. Kudjoe Fianoo made it clear that the GHALCA Top Four competition will feature only the deserving teams—Medeama, Bechem, Aduana, and Kotoko—and the Association is fully committed to organizing an exciting tournament for these teams.
"This year we are not compromising. We are playing the top four at all costs. We will neither reduce nor increase the number of teams.
We have tried the top four, top six, and top eight, and we've seen the competitiveness of all which is why we have settled on the top four," he told Peace FM.
"This means the eligible teams are Medeama, Bechem, Aduana and Kotoko. We have started engaging with sponsors and will soon contact the clubs as well. so we will organise nothing but a top-four competition.
