Jordan Amissah, a goalkeeper based in England, is thrilled to be selected for coach Ibrahim Tanko's Black Meteors team for the upcoming CAF U23 African Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco later this month.
.
Amissah, who previously played for Borussia Dortmund as a youngster, has seen his club Sheffield United secure a return to the Premier League, adding to his excitement.
Having spent the previous season on loan at Burton Albion and making significant contributions to the team's performance in the English League One, he has caught the attention of the Black Meteors' technical team.
Ghana's objective in the tournament is to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France. Their group-stage opponents include the host nation Morocco, as well as Congo and Guinea.
Amissah, currently in Egypt with the team, took to social media to share his enthusiasm about the training camp with the Black Meteors, posting pictures of his training sessions.
Ghana's last participation in the Olympic Games was in 2004, and they aim to make a comeback after a 20-year absence. The Black Meteors came close to qualifying for the previous Olympic Games but narrowly missed out after a defeat to South Africa on penalties in the third-place match of the 2019 AFCON.
The tournament is scheduled to commence on June 24 and conclude on July 8. The team will travel to Egypt for further training before departing for Morocco to compete in the tournament.
