Ghanaian midfielder Elisha Owusu has voiced his confidence and determination as the Black Stars gear up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Placed in Group L alongside heavyweights England and Croatia, as well as Panama, Owusu is ready for the high-stakes battles ahead.

“It’s a tough group, a really strong one. England and Croatia are top teams, and Panama also has quality. I like it because we will face big matches,” said the AJ Auxerre captain in an interview with Flashscore.

Owusu stressed that Ghana’s ambition goes beyond simply showing up. “Our main goal is to advance deep into the tournament and prove that African football is feared. We won’t just participate; we want to play with humility and demonstrate what Ghana is capable of,” he added.

He also considered the possible effect of the heat and humidity in some of the U.S. host cities, which could resemble conditions in West Africa. “We’re used to playing in such climates in Ghana and across Africa, so it could work to our advantage. But football is football—both sides will face the same conditions,” Owusu noted.
