Communication Director of the Ghana Football Association, Henry Asante Twum, has confirmed they are in talks with series of countries for a possible pre-World Cup friendly in March with Austria likely to be the opponent.
The four-time African conquerors have been out of action for sometime now with their last games coming against Japan and South Korea in the Kirin Challenge Cup tournament in November.
With preparations already in place towards the 2026 FIFA World Cup which is six months away from now, the Ghana FA have already secured a high profile friendly against four-time world champions Germany in March.
Another opponent is looking be identified as coach Otto Addo will need a country that will hand him a perfect opposition to assess the strength and weaknesses of his team before the main event in June.
In an interview on Sporty FM, the renowned journalist has confirmed there will be another friendly for Ghana added to the first with Austria likely to be the opponents.
“Austria is one of the teams we are talking to to play after the Germany friendly game, and hopefully, when the contract is signed, we will make it official to the public.”
The Black Stars have been drawn in Group L alongside 1966 champions England, 2018 finalists Croatia and Panama, with the World Cup set to commence on June 11, 2026
