Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton has reacted to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations draw which was held last night at the Parc Des Expositions in Abidjan.
Ghana at the end of the draw, were placed in Group B alongside seven-time winners and grand masters Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique.
To many a football faithful among the locals, it's actually a fair draw for the Black Stars and will have to atleast advance from the group to avoid a disastrous campaign like the previous edition in Cameroon.
Reacting to the draw, the English-born manager gave a detailed account about Egypt but admitted he has little information about Mozambique and Cape Verde- whom he hopes to know about them before the commencement of the AFCON.
"Egypt are a very experienced side, very experienced AFCON campaigners and I think they have more wins than any other country. For sure, they are very tough opposition."
"But of course, it is a competition and we are very much looking forward to playing against certainly one of the best teams on the African continent at this particular moment."
"And of course, Mozambique and Cape Verde, are two teams that I don’t know so much about. However, we will do all of our homework, over these coming months, [and] watch their games from now, and before the tournament starts," he added.
"But I think whenever a group comes out, you always think that it could have been better for us, and could have been worse for us."
The Black Stars are currently in Charlotte in the United States, preparing for their highly-rated international friendly against Mexico this Saturday, October 14.
The four-time African champions will top up with another against the USA in three days time in Nashville- also a friendly to test their strength ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and the 2023 AFCON scheduled for early next year.
