Former Hearts of Oak hero, Sanni Mohammed, now goalkeeper’s coach of Dreams FC, has spoken highly of Benjamin Asare and strongly believes he deserves all the opportunities and plaudits he is receiving right now.

Asare, joined the ‘Phobians’ last season from Great Olympics and has been unmatched since his arrival and has gradually walked his way into the Black Stars where he is a mainstay now.

He has played six matches so far all in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and has conceded just a goal within period. Many believe he deserves to be maintained as Ghana’s first choice while others disagree.

Sanni Mohammed, who won Hearts of Oak the CAF Confederation Cup in the 2004/05 season, says Asare has been very outstanding and added Ghaba would have qualified to the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations if he was invited earlier

“Benjamin Asare’s performance has been superb lately. If he had been around earlier during our AFCON 2025 qualifiers m, Ghaba would have qualified for the tournament”, he told Media General’s Akoma FM in Kumasi.

After keeping clean sheets in his opening five games of the season, Benjamin Asare has now conceded in the last two games and is definitely looking to make amends this weekend when they host their bitter rivals Asante Kotoko in the first Super-Clash of the season.
