The former striker of Asante Kotoko is campaigning for a fair chance for local players in the Black Stars.
In recent years players playing for Ghanaian club's have been overlooked in terms of call-ups into the senior national team. During Ghana's AFCON qualifier against Sudan, head coach Otto Addo handed call ups to Asante Kotoko’s Frederick Asare and Isaac Afful of FC Samartex.
Making reference to Asamoah Gyan, Kwadwo Asamoah and others as a typical example, the former Black Galaxies and Aduana Stars marksman championed for an equal chance and opportunities for local based players.
“It’s important to give local players a fair chance. Our local players deserve the chances we gave the likes of Asamoah Gyan, Kwadwo Asamoah and others,” Yahaya told Kessben FM.
“Four players were unable to join the Black Stars for the Sudan games but the technical team overlooked the local players despite their monitoring and went for another foreign player as replacement. It means they have no plans for the local players for now."
