The ex-Liverpool defender has been in the firing line for his provocative remarks over the AFCON tournament, with the retired Ghana iconic defender being the latest figure to slam the loud-mouthed English man

Former Bayern Munich and Ghana defender Sammy Kuffour has hit out at former England defender Jamie Carragher following  his loose talk against the Africa Cup of Nations tournament in recent time.

The acid-tongued retired centre-back suggested that Liverpool and Egyptian talismanic forward Mohamed Salah has little chance of winning the Ballon d’Or owing to his participation in the African continental showpiece.

That notwithstanding, Carragher has so far been in the firing line from former African footballers, with former Chelsea and Nigeria midfielder Mikel Obi mangling him for speaking ill about the revered contest on the continent.

And now, joining the critics of the ex-Liverpool man, is the former Bayern Munich and Ghana defender Sammy Kuffour who has called out the 47-year-old for his negative comments there by demanding an apology from him having branded him as nothing but a talkative person who is not fit to be among the 2000 best defenders in the world.

''Jamie Carragher has to apologise to all African people because AFCON is not a normal tournament," the 59-capped retired Ghana international began by firing to Sporty FM. Africa has given us the best of the best. Africa has produced a Ballon d’Or winner."

He added: ''What has Jamie Carragher achieved? If he wasn’t born in Liverpool, he would not have had the chance to play for Liverpool," Kuffour added. If we mention the best 2,000 defenders in the world, Jamie Carragher will not be part of them. He’s nothing. He just talks. He should be ashamed of himself.''
