After almost three months of preseason, squad improvement and registration, the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League is set to commence this afternoon with Great Olympics welcoming Bechem United to the Ohene Gyan Stadium in the capital.

The Ghana's topflight championship has now been renamed betPawa Premier League in this new season, due to sponsorship reasons.

The Hunters were really impressive in the last campaign and recorded one of the best seasons they have ever had since making it into the top division having finished 3rd with 54 points.

However, the 'Dade' outfit also narrowly missed out on the top four last season after making a 5th placed finish with 48 points.

Both teams will be hoping for nothing but the best of performance beyond what they achieved last season and of course their ultimate ambition will be set on nothing but winning the league trophy.

They met each other twice in the preseason including an epic final in the G6 tourney-  a clash Great Olympics emerged victorious with a penalty shootouts victory.

TEAM NEWS

Great Olympics have lost the service of mercurial winger Maxwell Abbey Quaye to Hearts of Oak on the final day of the transfer window and will really feel his absence upfront.

Their head coach Annor Walker is also gone but has been replaced with experience Yaw Preko who has been with the team for sometime now.

The Wonder club have strengthen their squad with the addition of Michael Yeboah and former Black Stars and Udinese Calcio midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu- who will be monitored closely in today's encounter.

On the opposition end, the Hunters will continue to be led by experience gaffer Kasim Mingle Ocansey but will work together with his namesake, Kasim Gökyildiz- who has been named as the club's new Technical Director.

Their last season top scorer, Augustine Okrah is currently with Tanzanian giants Simba SC and his presence would have been really malleable this afternoon.

However, lanky midfielder Seth Kwadwo has joined from Asokwa Deportivo and had a decent G6 tournament alongside Frank Priso, Tenlep Yapy Gabriel, Black Starlet star Andrews Appiah and ex- Kotoko forward Andy Kumi Francis.
