Great Olympics and Hearts of Oak will hit the road to face each other at the Baba Yara Stadium on Friday evening in the opening fixture of Ghana Premier League match-day 16 and is the first 'Ga-Mantse' derby of the season.

Originally, both teams are based in the capital, Accra but all had to adopt the Kumasi venue as their new home grounds for this month following the closure of the Accra Sports Stadium for Christmas events.

Both teams failed to pick up victories in their last matches and are definitely going to play their hearts out this time in search of the three points and the bragging right.

Great Olympics on the same grounds last Sunday, held giants Asante Kotoko to a goalless draw to halt their recent four-game winning streak.

Having won just one in their last five matches, the 'Dade' outfit are currently on the 11th spot with 17 points and will badly need the win to surpass their regional rivals.

Also on the 10th spot with the same 17 points, Hearts of Oak have just a win in their last five matches and that was a 2-1 win over Accra Lions in week 12.

Richard Danso's late equalizer thanks to a clanger from goalkeeper Richmond Ayi caused Hearts of Oak a precious three points last week in Abrankese after playing out a one-all stalemate with Nations FC after Hamza Issah had already put them ahead.

TEAM NEWS

Coach Annor Walker has no any major injuries or suspension concerns at his disposal at the moment.

However, the 'Dade' outfit had two of their players; Emmanuel Antwi and goalkeeper Benjamin Asare included in Ghana's provisional 55-man squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations and will be a huge boost for the duo coming into the game.

On the part of Hearts of Oak, goalkeeper Richmond Ayi and defender Kelvin Osei Asibey are the notable absentees from the squad that went into their last game.

Newly-signed Ivorian striker Kassim Cisse and goalkeeper Kwadwo Osei Bonsu are all part of the team and will be available for selection.
