Seeking to move from the ninth-pecking of the Premier League table, nerdish Hearts of Oak travel to Dawu Park to face Legon Cities on Saturday afternoon.

The two teams meet for the first time since November 12 when both side’s posted a scoreless draw stalemate at the Accra Sports Stadium.

After enduring that torrid stalemate at the Accra Sports Stadium, Hearts of Oak hit a purple patch towards the end of last year and claimed two victories, three draws and two loses from seven league matches up to the last day of the year.

However, the Royals have since recorded four wins, four defeats and have drawn twice of their last 10 top-flight fixtures in 2024.

Paa Kwesi Fabin’s side failed to claim maximum points at Akoon Park last Sunday as they were stunned 1-0 by Medeama courtesy of a goal from former Tamale City defender Kamaradini Mamudu.

Although victories have been hard to come by for Hearts, finding the back of the net has not been an issue for Ouattara’s men as they have scored at least once in 10 of their last 10 league games, netting 15 goals in total – the only exceptions being a 2-0 away defeat to former champions Medeama, and a 1-0 home defeat to Gold Stars.

Legon Cities will hope to make the net ripple again on Saturday as they endeavour to hang-on to 11 wins in their 28-game run against Hearts since 2011 – the juiciest numbers the Royals have recorded against an opponent in Ghana Football League history.
