Accra Lions delivered an attacking masterclass to beat Aduana FC 5-3 in a pulsating Ghana Premier League Matchweek 31 encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, May 17, 2025.
The home side started brightly and went ahead in the 14th minute through Musa Hamzata, who calmly finished to give Lions the lead.
The hosts doubled their advantage in the 31st minute thanks to a composed effort from Lucky Nwafor, who completed his brace just before the break (45+1) to send Accra Lions into halftime with a commanding 3-0 lead.
Faris Tahiru Salman added to Aduana’s woes in the 35th minute, and he was on hand again in the 61st to make it 5-0, effectively sealing the game for the home side.
However, Aduana FC mounted a late fightback. Emmanuel Paga Peprah scored a quick-fire brace in the 83rd and 87th minutes to reduce the deficit. Emmanuel Marfo added a third in stoppage time (90+2), but it proved too little too late as Lions held on for the three points.
The win lifts Accra Lions further away from the relegation zone and adds pressure on Aduana FC’s top-four hopes. The thrilling encounter also highlighted the defensive lapses in Aduana’s setup, particularly in the first half.
Accra Lions will look to build on this momentum as the season nears its climax, while Aduana FC must regroup quickly ahead of their next fixture.
