Asante Kotoko extended their unbeaten run with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over defending champions FC Samartex at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Sunday.
Albert Amoah delivered the decisive moment of the match, finding the net in the 31st minute by slotting home a precise out-swinging cross from Patrick Asiedu.
This victory marked Kotoko’s third consecutive win, reinforcing their strong early-season form. They dominated the match, controlling 53% of possession and registering 17 goal attempts compared to Samartex’s five. Kotoko also managed four shots on target, while Samartex only troubled their goalkeeper twice. Despite the narrow scoreline, Kotoko’s control and disciplined defense were evident, ensuring a clean sheet.
With this win, Kotoko now sit second in the league standings, just one point behind leaders Bibiani Goldstars, with a game in hand.
Their next challenge will be an outstanding league fixture against Legon Cities in Accra, where they’ll aim to keep their unbeaten streak alive. Meanwhile, Samartex will look to bounce back in their upcoming clash with Berekum Chelsea.
