Stephen Amankonah was the star of the show as Berekum Chelsea recorded a 1-0 victory over Nations FC in Sunday’s matchday 12 of the Ghana Premier League contest at the Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.
The result has moved the Bibires into eighth spot with 17 points in the Ghana Premier League table, while Nations FC have dropped to 2nd, boasting 22 points from their first 12 games of the season.
The breakthrough came in the 18th minute of the contest through the deadly Amankonah, with the goal dangler finding the back of the net from the spot kick.
Nations FC recharged to go on a manhunt for the equalizer after the first half but their efforts did not yield any good results as the Berekum Chelsea defense really worked hard to pin them at a tight angle, preventing them from scoring.
The Bibires had a rare opportunity to double their lead in the the latter stages but their excellent efforts went begging, flying past the goalpost, which ultimately proved too late for the Abrankese side to potentially launch a comeback on home soil.
