Berekum Chelsea and Asante Kotoko played out a hard-fought 1-1 draw at the Golden City Park on Sunday afternoon, leaving both teams still searching for consistency in their Ghana Premier League campaigns.
Asante Kotoko got off to a flying start, breaking the deadlock just three minutes into the game when Kyei Dwamena finished off a well-placed cut-back from Dauda Saaka. The Porcupine Warriors seemed poised for victory after the early strike but struggled to extend their lead.
Berekum Chelsea grew into the game and found their equalizer in the 60th minute through captain Fuseini Zakaria. The midfielder calmly slotted home to bring the hosts level, much to the delight of the home crowd.
Both teams had opportunities to snatch a winner, but the match ultimately ended in a stalemate, marking back-to-back draws for Kotoko, who haven’t won since their opening-day victory over Karela United.
Berekum Chelsea, similarly, have managed just one win so far this season, which also came against Karela. Both sides will be eager to return to winning ways in their upcoming fixtures.
Kotoko will next face Nsoatreman on Wednesday in an outstanding fixture, while Berekum Chelsea will be up against Young Apostles.
