Berekum Chelsea emerged victorious in the Bono derby with a determined 2-1 win over Bechem United at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park on Sunday, claiming local bragging rights and climbing the league table.
Chelsea made a statement early on, with Vincent Adjei opening the scoring in the third minute to stun the home crowd. Bechem United regrouped and responded well, with Darlvin Yeboah drawing them level in the 30th minute after sustained pressure.
But the visitors struck again just eight minutes later. Jonah Attuquaye finished off a quick counterattack to restore Chelsea’s lead before halftime.
Bechem came into the game looking to rebound from their midweek loss to Gold Stars, but despite a strong push in the second half, they were unable to penetrate Chelsea’s disciplined defensive setup. The defeat marks their second consecutive home loss and sees them slip to eighth place, dampening their hopes of breaking into the top four.
Chelsea, now level on points with Bechem in ninth, will look to build on this performance when they host Nations FC in their next outing. Bechem United will aim to bounce back on the road against Accra Lions.
