Bibiani GoldStars started their 2024/25 Ghana Premier League campaign on a high note, defeating Legon Cities 2-1 at the Bibiani Dun's Park on Sunday, September 8.
The Gye Nyame lads scored in both halves to secure the hard-fought win.
Samuel Atta Kumi wasted no time, finding the back of the net just three minutes into the match, scoring one of the fastest goals of the season so far.
Despite several attempts from both sides, GoldStars held onto their narrow lead as they went into halftime 1-0 up.
Legon Cities responded quickly after the break, with Dennis Adoma leveling the score just two minutes into the second half, marking his first-ever goal in the Ghana Premier League.
However, Bibiani GoldStars reclaimed the lead in the 72nd minute, courtesy of a well-placed strike from Gideon Anaba, securing all three points for the home side.
GoldStars were originally scheduled to face defending champions FC Samartex this Friday, but the fixture will be rescheduled due to Samartex’s CAF Champions League match on Sunday. Legon Cities will travel to the TNA Stadium on Saturday to take on Medeama in their next league encounter.
