Dreams FC hold champions FC Samartex to a goalless draw in the opening fixture of 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season at the Ohene Gyan Stadium.
Coach Karim Zito paraded a line up full of new signings with Joseph Esso as the captain alongside other exciting youngsters like Atta Agyei, Aziz Misbau, Izdeen Mohammed, goalkeeper Gidios Aseako etc.
Nurudeen Amadu on the part of Samartex, still missed the service of Evans Osei-Owusu but Emmanuel Mamah, Kofi Baah, captain Ebenezer Acquah, James Sewornu all started with Baba Hamadu starting from the bench having returned from injury not long ago.
The visitors made a very good start to the game and combined with some great passes to launch in a decent cross by Solomon Adjei but was gathered by goalkeeper Gidios Aseako.
Dreams FC subsequently settled down in the game and called goalkeeper to action on some occasions.
After a goalless first half, both teams resumed in an explosive fashion with series of attacks against each other in search of the opener.
In the opening fifteen minutes, Michael Ephson tested the Dreams goalie with a good free kick but was parried away to a wasted corner kick subsequently.
Few moments later, Joseph Esso also came so close to scoring but goalkeeper Kofi Baah to the rescue to keep the visitors in the game.
On the 70th minute, Dreams FC's Collins Boah becomes the first player to receive a red card in the new season after a reckless tackle. It finished goalless after full time.
Dreams FC will travel to Basake Holy Stars next, whiles FC Samartex will face Raja Casablanca in the CAF Champions League next week.
