FC Samartex bounced back to winning form in the Ghana Premier League with a 2-0 victory over Accra Lions at Nsenkyire Park.
Emmanuel Mamah and Akwesi Sarpong were the scorers in the first half, with their goals proving enough to seal all three points against last season’s runners-up.
The hosts started the match on the front foot, and Mamah gave them an early lead in the second minute after a quick counter caught the Lions off guard.
The visitors were forced into an early change when defender Richard Agyen suffered an injury, with Issah Mohammed coming on to replace him.
Just five minutes later, Samartex doubled their advantage when Sarpong capitalized on disorganized Lions defending to fire home.
Accra Lions improved after the break, mounting more pressure on the Timber Boys.
Forward Yao Sokpoli attempted a long-range shot midway through the second half, but it failed to trouble Samartex goalkeeper Shaibu Rafique.
Despite continued pressure from the Accra-based side, the hosts held firm and saw out the game, securing a well-deserved victory in Samreboi.
