Prince Tweneboa's first half goal was enough to hand newly-promoted side Basake Holy Stars a historic 1-0 win over giants Hearts of Oak in their first ever game in the Ghana Premier League.

Coach Aboubakar Ouattara named a line up that had goalkeeper Benjamin Asare as the captain, Salim Adams, Hamza Issah, Asamoah Boateng Afriyie, Mawuli Wayo all made the cut.

On the opposition side, Abdulai Gazale maintained the he's used in almost all their matches with the likes of Simba Sylvester- who has joined on loan starting from the bench.

Basake Holy Stars surprisingly, scored in less than three minutes into their topflight debut thanks to a well-directed header from Prince Tweneboa from a great cross that came from the right.

Hearts of Oak subsequently tried settling down and upped the ante having taken the game under their control and also had some few chances came their way but couldn't make them count.

In the second half, the 'Phobians' returned on a good note and looked much more improved this time and kept on hunting for the leveller.

The 'Phobians' were handed series of free kicks at a very good position, but Martin Karikari's deliveries were no where near troubling goalkeeper Abdul Wahab Abubakar.

With three minutes to full time, the homesters broke on a counter and Hamza Issah's cross looked like hitting the hand of an opposing player in the box and that called for a huge shout for penalty but the referee disagreed and waved play on.

Hearts of Oak after the poor start, will face Heart of Lions next, whiles Basake Holy Stars will look to continue with their perfect start when they host Dreams FC in the next round of matches.
