Dreams FC head coach, Abdul Karim Zito, has hailed his team’s resilience following their goalless draw against FC Samartex, especially after playing the final 18 minutes with ten men.

The match, held at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, marked the start of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season for both clubs.

Dreams FC started brightly, testing Samartex goalkeeper Kofi Baah early on with a powerful set-piece that was deflected out for a corner. Despite the promising opening, the first half ended without either team finding the back of the net.

After the break, defending champions Samartex increased the pressure, creating several dangerous opportunities. However, in the 72nd minute, Dreams FC’s midfielder Collins Boah received a second yellow card, becoming the first player to be sent off this season, and leaving his team a man down.

Reflecting on the match, Coach Zito expressed satisfaction with the result, given the circumstances.

"In some ways, I will say it is a fair result because along the line we ran short of one man. We were struggling to at least secure a draw," Zito said.

"But before that, it was a well-fought battle. To me, they did well even though we wanted to win."

Dreams FC will be looking to build on this hard-earned point as they move forward in the new season.
