Heart of Lions delivered a surprising 1-0 victory over Asante Kotoko at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi, marking Kotoko’s second consecutive loss this season.
A lone goal by former Hearts of Oak striker Kwadwo Obeng Jr. in the 28th minute secured the three points for Lions, who capitalized on a miscue from Kotoko goalkeeper Mohamed Camara to slot the ball into an open net.
Kotoko, keen to recover from their midweek loss to Legon Cities, struggled to break down a well-organized Lions defense led by former Kotoko coach Bashir Hayford. Despite controlling 62% of possession and attempting 10 shots, Kotoko’s attacks were blunted, with both sides managing just one shot on target.
The defeat sees Kotoko fall from second to third in the league standings as they prepare for an away match against Bechem United. In contrast, Heart of Lions move up to seventh, with momentum building as they head into their next game hosting Berekum Chelsea.
