Newly promoted Young Apostles pulled off a stunning 1-0 victory over defending champions FC Samartex at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena on Sunday, November 17, 2024.

The win marked a significant turning point for the visitors, who ended Samartex's unbeaten home run that had stretched back to March 2024.

The decisive moment came early in the second half when Samuel Prempeh capitalized on a rare defensive lapse to fire home the only goal of the match in the 48th minute. The strike proved enough to hand Apostles a much-needed victory, moving them up to 10th place in the Ghana Premier League standings with 13 points.

Despite dominating possession, Samartex failed to breach a resolute Apostles defense. The visitors, playing with renewed vigor following the departure of their head coach Asare Bediako, showcased impressive resilience to withstand relentless pressure from the Timber Giants throughout the match.

The loss sees Samartex drop to 6th position with 17 points. Head coach Amadu’s side will look to rebound quickly as they prepare to face Basake Holy Stars in their next fixture.

Meanwhile, Young Apostles will return to Wenchi with renewed confidence, aiming to build on this landmark win when they host Medeama SC in their upcoming clash.
