Asante Kotoko will look to steady the 'Ebo Noah's Ark' and return to winning ways when they lock horns with Dreams FC in Matchweek 14 fixture of the at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday afternoon.

The Porcupine Warriors come into this encounter wounded after suffering a shock 1–0 defeat away to newly promoted Hohoe United last weekend, a result that briefly halted their push towards the summit.

Dreams FC, by contrast, arrive in high spirits after flip bouncing Bechem United 2–1 at home, a victory that offered some respite in their battle to climb away from the lower reaches of the table.

Match Preview

Kotoko currently sit fifth in the 18-team standings with 21 points after 13 matches, having recorded five wins, six draws and just two defeats. Abdul Karim Zito’s side have been difficult to beat this season, but their tendency to draw games has prevented them from fully capitalising on strong stages of form.

Back on home soil, where the Baba Yara Stadium has traditionally been a fortress, Kotoko will be keen to respond positively to last weekend’s setback. With the title race beginning to tighten, the hosts know that dropped points against lower-ranked opposition could prove costly later in the campaign.

Dreams FC, meanwhile, occupy 14th place with 14 points, having managed four wins, two draws and seven defeats so far. Under the guidance of former Tudu Mighty Jets star player Winfred Dormon, the Still Believe have shown flashes of quality, but inconsistency has left them hovering just above the relegation zone.

Their victory over Bechem United last Sunday could, however, serve as a springboard, and Dreams will travel to Kumasi hoping to frustrate Kotoko and nick something on the counter-attack.

Team News

Asante Kotoko

Kotoko are expected to have most of their key players available, with no fresh injury concerns reported after the Hohoe United defeat. Coach Zito may be tempted to freshen up his midfield and attacking setup to inject more urgency, but wholesale changes are unlikely. Captain Ndongani Samba Gilbani should marshal the back three, while Morifing Donzo is expected to lead the line as Kotoko chase an early breakthrough.

Dreams FC

Dreams FC also come into the match with a relatively healthy squad. Head coach Winfred Dormon is likely to stick with the core of the team that impressed against Bechem United, with Chistian Owusu continuing to provide leadership in defence. Pace on the flanks and quick transitions will be key to Dreams game plan as they look to exploit any spaces left by the Porcupine Warriors.

Possible Lineups

Asante Kotoko:

Mohammed Camara (GK); Ndongani Samba Gilbani (C), Lord Amoah, Henry Ansu; Patrick Asiedu, Hubert Gyau, Seth Kwadwo, Lord Hilary Adabo; Saaka Dauda, Peter Amidu Acquah; Morifing Donzo.

Dreams FC:

Gidios Aseako (GK); Yaro Isaac, Kuma Kofi, Izdeen Mohammed, Ernest Appiah; Christian Owusu (C), Adams Aminu, Yaovi Chris Guede; Jonathan Nemorden, Charles Bartels, Seidu Suraj.

Prediction

Kotoko’s home strength should give them the advantage, but Dreams FC have shown enough energy to suggest this will not be a straightforward afternoon for Kotoko.

We say: Asante Kotoko 2–1 Dreams FC

Peter Amidu Acquah is tipped to open the scoring for Kotoko in the first half, with Hubert Gyau adding a second after the break. Dreams FC could pull one back through Charles Bartels late on, but the Porcupine Warriors should do enough to claim all three points.
