Hearts of Oak are back on winning path with a narrow 1-0 win over Nations FC in a very crunchy match-day 14 of the Ghana Premier League.

The game at the University of Ghana Stadium was an exciting one with both teams subsequently settling down very well after a very sloppy and jittery start to the game.

Hearts of Oak started well and made numerous attacks including a drive from Abdul Karim who nearly took his former club by surprise but his effort was collected by goalkeeper Sanon.

The Eagles looked a bit sluggish but still managed to hold the Rainbow Club to a goalless draw at half-time.

In the second half, both teams resumed on a higher note with Hearts of Oak pushing for the win while Nations FC had to rely on their goalkeeper Rabin Sanon to curb all the threats.

Hamza Issah in the 54th minute came so close to opening the scoring account but his effort went off the crossbar. That was close.

Hamza finally found the back of the net in the 69th minute thanks to a close range header from Amankwah Baafi’s cross from the left. It finished 1-0 in the end.

Hearts of Oak have now bounced back on winning ways and have moved to the third position with 24 points and will take on Aduana Stars next in Dormaa.

Nations FC after the defeat are currently sitting 11th on the league log with 16 points and will host Young Apostles at Abrankese in the next round of matches.
