Eleven Wonders will be desperate to pick up their first points of the Ghana Premier League season when they travel to the Nsenkyire Sports Arena to take on FC Samartex on Sunday afternoon.

The Timber Giants come into the clash full of confidence after edging Aduana FC 1-0 last weekend, while Wonders continue to search for their first win of the campaign following a narrow defeat to Young Apostles.

Match Preview

Eleven Wonders have endured a dismal start to the new Premier League season, with pressure beginning to mount on coach Nii Odartey Lamptey after a run of three consecutive defeats.

Their latest setback came in cruel fashion, as a stoppage-time strike from Richmond Opoku condemned the capital-based outfit to a 1-0 loss against Young Apostles at the Swedru Sports Stadium.

Rooted to the bottom of the standings with just one point from four matches, Wonders’ lack of creativity in the final third has been their undoing, scoring only once while conceding six times this term.

The visitors will need to rediscover their cutting edge quickly if they are to avoid being cast adrift in the early relegation battle.

Samartex, meanwhile, will be aiming to build on their impressive 1-0 victory over Aduana Stars — a result that halted their two-game winless run.

Coach Christopher Ennin’s men currently sit 9th on the table with six points and have looked solid defensively, conceding just twice in their opening four matches.

Having kept back-to-back clean sheets at home, the Timber Giants will fancy their chances of adding another three points on Sunday against a struggling Wonders side still finding their feet back in the top flight.

With both teams chasing power, the clash in Samreboi promises to be an engaging showdown between a side on the rise and one fighting to find its rhythm.

Team News

FC Samartex

Head coach Chris Ennin is expected to stick with the same XI that defeated Aduana FC last weekend. Striker Osman Zakari will once again lead the line, supported by Godwin Safah and Emmanuel Mamah in attack.

Defender Ebenezer Acquah, who impressed in the last outing, will marshal the backline alongside Kofi Agbesimah, while midfielder Emmanuel Essien is tipped to retain his place after a solid display.

Eleven Wonders

Coach Nii Odartey Lamptey is likely to make a few tweaks in search of inspiration. Skipper Emmanuel Boateng is expected to anchor the midfield once more, with Daniel Lomotey Agbloe leading the attack.

Youngster Albert Frimpong could be handed a start following his bright cameo last week, while goalkeeper Joseph Baah is set to continue between the posts despite recent defensive lapses.

FC Samartex possible starting lineup:

Musa Zakari (GK); Ebenezer Acquah (C), Kofi Agbesimah, Solomon Adjei, Samuel Tetteh Mensah; Emmanuel Essien, Emmanuel Mamah, Kwaku Owusu; Godwin Safah, Osman Zakari, Akwasi Sarpong.

Eleven Wonders possible starting lineup:

Joseph Baah (GK); Desmond Acheampong, Edmund Afurapoe, Issah Ahmed; Matthew Amponsah, Frank Awere, Emmanuel Boateng (C), Kenneth Owusu; Mohammed Issah, Albert Frimpong; Daniel Lomotey Agbloe.

We Say: FC Samartex 2–1 Eleven Wonders

Samartex’s confidence and home advantage could make the difference in this encounter. Osman Zakari is tipped to open the scoring early for the hosts, before Emmanuel Boateng equalises for Wonders. However, late pressure from the Timber Giants could pay off, with substitute Godwin Safah sealing victory in the closing stages.
