Bibiani GoldStars have started their title defense on a good note with a 2-1 win over Bechem United in what was a very exciting game at the Dun’s Park.
The home team right from on onset took the game at their visitors with consistent attacks which eventually awarded them a penalty in just a minute into the game.
Lanky striker Samuel Atta Kumi elected himself for the kick and converted neatly to put Bibiani GoldStars ahead.
In the 20th minute, Atta Kumi got on a brace after finding the back of the net once again to double the lead for the Miners.
Bechem United responded swiftly having scored through Darlvin Yeboah in just a minute after conceding the second to pull one back.
In the second half, the Hunters returned on a blistering note with some continuous attacks in search of the precious equalizer
Bechem United really delivered an improved performance in the second half but the champions still ensured they defended very well and stood tall to preserve their lead until full-time to go off to a perfect start to their title defense.
The moment many wanted to see in the game was to see former Manchester City Academy youngster Aminu Mohammed in action but didn’t play a part today having watched on from the bench and will have to wait until next week to mark his competitive debut for the Neon-Greens.
Bibiani GoldStars after this important win will travel to giants Asante Kotoko while Bechem United will return to the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park to prepare against Basake Holy Stars in the next round of matches.
