Basake Holy Stars continued their impressive home performances in the Ghana Premier League with a hard-fought victory over Heart of Lions at the AAK II Stadium on Sunday.
An early goal from Prince Tweneboah proved decisive in a fiercely contested encounter, giving the hosts all three points.
Heart of Lions were reduced to ten men just 11 minutes into the match after Asante received a red card for a reckless challenge on a Holy Stars player. The hosts quickly took advantage of their numerical superiority, with Tweneboah finding the net shortly afterwards to open the scoring.
Boosted by the early breakthrough, Holy Stars dominated possession and created several promising opportunities as they controlled much of the first half. Lions were forced into tactical adjustments before the interval as they attempted to cope with the pressure.
After the restart, the home side pushed for a second goal, but Heart of Lions improved defensively, with experienced defender Ebenezer Abban playing a key role in keeping the scoreline close.
In the closing stages, Holy Stars slowed the tempo and managed the game effectively, preventing the visitors from mounting a comeback.
The victory secures consecutive home wins for Basake Holy Stars and strengthens their position away from the relegation zone.
