Asante Kotoko interim head coach Prince Yaw Owusu has played down mounting calls from some supporters demanding his removal after the club’s frustrating home draw against Vision FC.
The Porcupine Warriors were held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium despite playing much of the game with a numerical advantage, a result that sparked disappointment among fans who expected a victory.
Speaking after the match, Owusu maintained a calm stance, insisting decisions about his future rest solely with the club’s management.
“They are free to call for it — that decision belongs to management. I’m not worried about it,” he said.
“I will continue to do my job and leave the rest to management. If they decide otherwise today, I will respect it.”
The former Ghana international acknowledged the outcome fell short of expectations but emphasized that the team is still adjusting under his leadership, having taken charge only three matches ago following the departure of Karim Zito.
Kotoko failed to capitalise on their numerical advantage, with poor finishing and a lack of composure in the final third allowing Vision FC to secure a valuable point in Kumasi.
With scrutiny increasing around the interim coach, Owusu faces a crucial period as Kotoko aim to steady their campaign and rebuild supporter confidence.
Club management has yet to issue an official statement regarding his future, but pressure continues to grow ahead of the team’s upcoming league assignment.
