Karela United kicked off the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season with a narrow 1-0 victory over Aduana FC at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale on Sunday afternoon.
The decisive moment came almost instantly, as Malik Abubakar struck inside the opening minute to hand Karela the dream start. Despite creating additional chances, the “Pride and Passion” side were unable to extend their lead and were forced to defend resolutely to preserve their advantage.
Head coach Nurudeen Amadu, determined to steer his side away from the relegation battles that plagued recent campaigns, will be encouraged by the resilience and discipline his team showed in holding on for maximum points.
For Aduana FC, the early setback proved costly. Romanian tactician Cioba Aristica’s men struggled to recover and rarely posed a serious attacking threat, leaving them with plenty to reflect on before their first home match of the season.
Looking ahead, Karela United travel to face Samartex in their next fixture, while Aduana FC will return to Dormaa to host Nations FC at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park.
