Karela United were forced to settle for a thrilling 2-2 draw against ten-man Heart of Lions in their Matchday 29 Ghana Premier League clash at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The visitors made a bright start, taking the lead in the 13th minute through Michael Ephson. However, Karela responded swiftly, with Eric Antwi leveling the score just six minutes later to ensure the first half ended 1-1.

The game took a decisive turn in the 60th minute when Heart of Lions were reduced to ten men after Ismail Abambila received his second yellow card. Despite being a man down, the visitors showed great resilience and regained the lead in the 74th minute through Chauncy Freeman.

Karela United, determined to maintain their impressive home form, fought back once again. Antwi emerged as the hero, grabbing his second goal of the match to restore parity and salvage a point for the hosts.

The result means Karela miss out on a fifth consecutive home victory but will take positives from their comeback.

Nurudeen Amadu’s side remain 7th on 42 points and will next travel to face Accra Hearts of Oak. Heart of Lions, who sit 10th with 38 points, will look to bounce back when they host Nations FC in their next fixture.
