Kingsley Braye’s late equalizer saves Medeama SC from a defeat after being held by city rivals Basake Holy Stars to a pulsating 1-1 draw at the TnA Stadium in GPL match-day 15.

The game started on a very balanced note until Holy Stars captain Koffie Hagan tapped in from a very close range after a howler from Medeama goalie Jabar Adams.

With five minutes to half-time, Gideon Quaison made a great run into enemy territory, he came in field and attempted a strike but his effort deflected off his own player and went out.

Two minutes on, Kelvin Nkrumah managed to weave his way into the penalty box and in an attempt for equalizer he fired wide for a goal-kick.

Fuzy Taylor again put in a brilliant free-kick but Jacob Mensah headed wide from a close range as it finished 0-1 in favour of the visitors at half-time.

Back from recess, both teams bounced back well and had opportunities in the opening ten minutes but all couldn’t make it count.

Medeama SC continued with their consistent pressure which eventually yielded them a penalty in the 58th minute after Kelvin Nkrumah was fouled in the box by the visitors goalie.

Skipper Mubarik Yussif took responsibility and stepped but unfortunately had his kick saved brilliantly by goalkeeper Dubi Kassi Tayi who dived to his right to push it away.

In the 75th minute, Salim Adams came very close to leveling the score for Medeama but his long range free kick went off the upright. Just unlucky!

With just a minute to full-time, substitute Kingsley Braye scored to bring Medeama SC back on level terms.

Medeama SC have missed out on an opportunity to clinch top-spot after this draw and will remain in second place with 27 points. They travel next to Kpando to face Heart of Lions.

Basake Holy Stars have also now extended their unbeaten run to five and will host Hohoe United next
