Medeama SC strengthened their Ghana Premier League title ambitions with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Basake Holy Stars on Sunday at the AIK Ampain Park.

A decisive second-half goal from Kingsley Braye proved enough to hand the Mauve and Yellow a crucial three points in a tense and highly competitive encounter.

Heading into the fixture, Medeama knew victory was essential after reigning champions Gold Stars FC had temporarily moved above them following developments surrounding Hohoe United’s withdrawal from the top flight.

Under immense pressure, coach Ibrahim Tanko saw his side respond with determination, composure, and attacking intensity to keep their title hopes firmly on track.

Medeama started brightly and controlled large spells of the game, consistently pushing forward in search of an early breakthrough.

Winger Kelvin Nkrumah emerged as one of the standout performers, causing constant problems for the Basake Holy Stars defence and twice striking the woodwork in a lively display.

Despite dominating much of the contest, Medeama suffered frustration in the second half when midfielder Salim Adams failed to convert from the penalty spot.

However, the visitors maintained their composure and continued to press for the winning goal.

Their persistence eventually paid off when Braye found the breakthrough, calmly finishing to secure what could prove to be one of Medeama’s most important victories of the season.

The win further highlighted Medeama’s growing confidence as the title race enters its decisive stages.

With only three matches remaining, the Tarkwa-based club now sit two points clear of Gold Stars at the top of the Ghana Premier League standings, strengthening their position as favourites for the title.
