Berekum Chelsea picked up their first win of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season with a commanding 2–0 victory over Basake Holy Stars in their matchweek four clash at the Golden City Park in Berekum on Sunday afternoon.
After a slow start to the campaign that saw them lose their opening two matches, Samuel Boadu’s side finally showed their quality in front of their home fans, producing an assured performance against a Basake side still chasing a first league win.
The Bibires flew out of the blocks and finally cracked the deadlock in the 42nd minute, when skipper Prince Anane buried a classy finish after a slick team move. Chelsea remained on top throughout, dictating play and keeping Holy Stars on the back foot.
Basake pushed for a response after the restart, but Chelsea’s defence held firm, limiting the visitors to half chances and long-range efforts.
Chelsea’s quickfire second in the 48th minute killed off Holy Stars’ hopes and capped a statement win in front of their home faithful.
The win lifts Berekum Chelsea off the foot of the table and up to 13th with three points, easing the heat on boss Samuel Boadu after a rocky start. His lads turned up with a disciplined, no-nonsense performance from first whistle to last.
As for Basake Holy Stars, the wait for their first top-flight win goes on. Now languishing 16th on two points, Adotey’s side must find their scoring boots fast before confidence drains away completely.
