FC AshantiGold 04 claimed a hard-fought 1-0 win over FC Samartex 1996 in match-week six of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi.
The contest was a tight and cagey affair, with both sides battling for control, but the Miners found the breakthrough in the 18th minute through Raphael Ankamah’s penalty.
Ankamah kept his composure from the spot to give the hosts the lead, and his effort ultimately proved decisive in a match where clear chances were difficult to come by.
The Timber Giants pushed for a response and put up a strong performance, but they could not find a way past the AshantiGold defence.
The result brought an end to the FC Samartex’s unbeaten start, having recorded three wins and two draws in their opening five matches.
The victory marks AshantiGold 04’s third win of the season, giving them a valuable boost as they continue their campaign in the topflight and will next travel to Dormaa to face Aduana FC.
FC Samartex, on the other hand, will return to Samreboi to host defending champions Medeama SC in their next league fixture.
