Bernard Kokonu scored the decisive goal as Dreams FC recorded their first victory of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Basake Holy Stars at the AAK II Sports Arena on Sunday.
The crucial away triumph ended Dreams’ winless start to the campaign while bringing Basake Holy Stars’ perfect home record to an end.
The game took a decisive turn in the 33rd minute when Holy Stars were reduced to 10 men after Bismark Teye was shown a straight red card following a fiercely contested first half.
Dreams FC made their numerical advantage count shortly after the restart. Kokonu found the breakthrough in the 50th minute, calmly converting the opportunity to put the visitors ahead.
The Believers produced a disciplined defensive display for the remainder of the contest, frustrating the hosts and protecting their slender advantage until the final whistle.
The defeat sees Abdulai Gazale’s side slip to 10th place in the league standings. They will aim to return to winning ways when they travel to face Port City in their next league fixture.
Despite remaining at the foot of the table, Dreams FC will draw confidence from their maiden victory of the season as Winfred Dormon’s side prepares to host league newcomers Debibi United in their next outing.
