FC Samartex returned to winning ways with a dramatic 2-1 victory over champions Medeama SC in their Ghana Premier League match-week 7 encounter at the Nsenkyire Sports Complex in Samreboi.

The Timber Giants handed Medeama their first defeat of the season in an exciting contest that came alive in the second half after both sides went into the break without a goal.

Joshua Fuseini broke the deadlock in the 56th minute to give Samartex the lead, putting the hosts in a strong position to claim all three points.

The Mauve abd Yellows, however, responded through Dominic Amponsah, who scored in the 78th minute to restore parity and set up a tense finish to the encounter.

Just and when the champions thought of leaving Samreboi with at least a point, Christian Agyenim Boateng struck late again like he did to Kotoko weeks ago, to seal the victory for Samartex, sparking celebrations among the home side as they ended the league leaders’ unbeaten start to the campaign.

FC Samartex will now turn their attention to an away fixture against Berekum Chelsea, while Medeama return to Tarkwa to host Aduana FC in what will be a very difficult game next week.
