Abdul Ganiyu Ismael, the former captain of Asante Kotoko, has not completely ruled out a return to his former club.
The 26-year-old center-back recently left the Ghanaian giants on mutual agreement after helping them win the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League title.
Ganiyu's departure was preceded by the club relieving him of captaincy duties and leaving him off the list for Sudan pre-season.
Despite the circumstances surrounding his exit, Ganiu expressed in an interview with Ghanasportspage.com that he could still work with Asante Kotoko in the future, as he is grateful for what the club has done for him.
“Asante Kotoko fans are my supporters and they should forgive me. We can’t disclose all the issues but they should forgive me because we can still work together in future.
“The club has done a lot for me and I won’t rule out a return if the opportunity comes. I will come if get the chance to play for them again,” Ganiyu stated.
Ganiyu currently plays as a defender for TP Mazembe, signing a two-year deal with the DR Congolese giants in February 2023.
