Following Asante Kotoko's defeat to Accra Lions in the 2023-24 Ghana Premier League match week 21, assistant coach David Ocloo acknowledged that their opponents outran them on the field.

Accra Lions took an early lead with Blessing Asumah Dankwa's goal just eleven minutes into the game, setting the tone for their performance.

Despite Asante Kotoko's efforts to stage a comeback, Accra Lions maintained their defensive stance and secured a crucial 3-2 victory over the Porcupine Warriors.

Expressing disappointment, Ocloo admitted, “Yes, like you rightly said, it is very, very disappointing. But congratulations to Accra Lions, they played well and they deserved to win,” he told StarTimes after the game.

"Accra Lions ran more than us; football nowadays is about running, and they executed it better than us today."

Despite the loss, Asante Kotoko remains in fourth place on the league standings with 32 points, trailing leaders Samartex by three points.

Meanwhile, Accra Lions' triumph has propelled them from 14th to 10th place on the table, accumulating 27 points from 20 matches.
