Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, an attacker for Sporting Lisbon, has called on Ghanaians to come out in large numbers to support the Black Meteors as they aim to qualify for the 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Ghana U-23 national team drew 1-1 with their Algerian counterparts in the first leg of their final qualifying round on Friday and will now play the reverse fixture at Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Tuesday.
Issahaku, who scored a stunning goal from his own half to give Ibrahim Tanko’s side the lead in the first leg, urged Ghanaians to come out and support the team for the crucial match.
“Hello, Ghana. My name is Issahaku Abdul Fatawu, a player from Sporting Lisbon,” he said in a video posted by the Ghana Football Association.
“We are here to play for the nation and Black Meteors, we need your support on the 28th of this month, that will be on Tuesday.
“We need your support; come out and support us to qualify for the AFCON.”
The Black Meteors currently hold the away goal advantage heading into the game which will determine their qualification for the 2023 U-23 AFCON. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 pm.
