Asante Kotoko SC and Medeama SC will join forces to represent Ghana at the 2024 Capital City Africa Cup in Washington, D.C., according to GHANAsoccernet.com.
The two Ghana Premier League clubs will merge their squads to face Major League Soccer (MLS) side DC United in a high-profile international friendly.
The match, scheduled for Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Audi Field, forms part of the Ghana Week DC 2024 celebration, which showcases Ghanaian culture and heritage in the United States. The event is organized by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) in collaboration with the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
Initially, Asante Kotoko was set to be the sole representative, but visa complications prevented most of their players from securing entry into the U.S. Medeama SC, having participated in the same event last year and possessing players with valid U.S. visas, will now bolster the squad.
The combined Kotoko-Medeama team is expected to depart for the U.S. on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, ahead of their anticipated clash with DC United.
