Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Ogum praised his team's tactical execution in their 1-0 win over Accra Lions during match week five of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League, describing it as a "highly tactical" encounter.

The victory, secured by Albert Amoah’s second-half strike, moved Kotoko to the top of the league table.

Speaking after the match, Ogum explained how his side disrupted Accra Lions' playing style: "It was a very tactical game. If you look at the way they play, they try to keep the ball, play out from the back, especially through the half-spaces, pretending they are not in those spaces. But when the ball is in those spaces, they pick it and play direct."

Ogum added, "We were able to identify that and pushed them into those half-spaces because we knew that once we didn’t allow them to play from those areas, it was going to be difficult for them. That’s exactly what we did, and they couldn’t play out from the back. We neutralized them."

The tactical approach paid off at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium, where Kotoko’s high press disrupted Accra Lions' rhythm. The breakthrough came just two minutes into the second half, with Amoah converting a precise cross from Dauda Saaka to secure the win.

With this crucial victory, Kotoko are now level on points with Bibiani Goldstars but lead the table on goal difference. As they prepare to face Legon Cities in their next fixture, Prosper Ogum’s men will aim to continue their strong form and maintain their position at the top.
