The Porcupine Warriors have clinched the maiden edition of the John Agyekum Kufour (JAK) Cup after a comeback win over Nsoatreman FC on Sunday evening.

Asante Kotoko lifted the 2024 JAK Cup after recording a 2-1 victory over Nsoatreman FC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

Nsoatreman FC commenced the game on a good note with an intense pressure on Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum's side to concede on the stroke of halftime.

The visitors were forced to make an early substitution as Daniel Afadzu sustained injury in the 32nd minute which got him replaced by Dennis Votere.

Asante Kotoko exercised their attacking muscles to register two goals in the second to inflict a defeat on Nsoatreman FC to win the ultimate.

On the 58th minute, Ugandan international Steven Mukwala snatched the equalizer after superbly connecting a corner-kick effected by Richmond Lamptey.

Five minutes later, Nsoatreman FC had an opportunity to restore their lead from the spot-kick but Abdul Manaf's kick was saved by goalkeeper Frederick Asare.

Asante Kotoko regrouped to launch fearsome attacks on the back line of Nsoatreman FC to concede again in the 68th minute which eventually became the match-winner.

Ghana U20 star Peter Amidu Acquah secured the needed victory for Asante Kotoko with a fine strike from Lamptey's pass on the 68th minute of the game.

Asante Kotoko held on their lead to emerge as winners of the maiden edition of J.A Kufour Cup.
