The fate of Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Yaw Amponsah hangs in the balance as the club's board of directors is divided on whether he should keep his job.

Amponsah, who has been facing pressure over his tenure in Kumasi, needs to convince certain members of the board to retain him until his three-year mandate expires in August 2023.

Reports emerged of an unsuccessful attempt to sack him, which has escalated into a crisis at the club. Some members of the board want Amponsah and his management team sacked immediately, while others want them to see out their tenure.

Nana Yaw Amponsah's inconsistent performance and the team's recent poor results, including being knocked out of the Champions League preliminary round, have come under scrutiny.

His future at the club will be decided in the coming weeks, with his term ending in August.
