According to Asante Kotoko board spokesperson, Kwadwo Boateng Genfi, the club's CEO, Nana Yaw Amponsah, will not be dismissed despite reports of a board meeting to address his decision to dismiss Coach Seydou Zerbo without their knowledge.
Recent reports suggest that six out of seven board members voted to retain Amponsah as the CEO, with one member proposing his dismissal for not informing the board before sacking Zerbo.
Genfi confirmed that Nana Yaw Amponsah will not be sacked and that the details of the meeting are confidential.
“Whatever it is, Nana Yaw Amponsah will not be sacked now. We will not sack him. Although I cannot disclose what the board discussed I can confidently confirm that he will not be sacked. For him to be sacked or continue after his term, I will say we will cross the bridge when we get there,” Kwadwo Boateng Genfi told Ghanasportspage.com.
Amponsah became CEO in August 2020 and has overseen the team's win of one Premier League title. The team currently ranks fifth in the BetPawa Premier League with one game in hand.
