Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has outlined the club’s transfer strategy for the upcoming season.
The Ghana Premier League-winning coach revealed that the club will shift its focus away from signing lower-tier players, a strategy they heavily relied on last season.
The Porcupine Warriors had signed over ten players from Division One and Two before the start of last season, many of whom were unproven at the Premier League level.
Reflecting on the club’s performance, Ogum was clear about the type of players they aim to recruit for the new season.
“We need to do a lot of structural changes in the playing body with respect to signing of some players to come to augment,” Ogum stated. “This time, not players from lower divisions, but players who have seen it in the Premier League. So these are basically some of the things that we need to also do.”
The club has already released 18 players, with eleven departing on Tuesday and seven more on Wednesday.
