Asante Kotoko has formally approached Medeama SC to secure the services of their creative midfielder, Godfred Abban, in the ongoing transfer window, according to Ghanasportspage.com report.
The 23-year-old midfielder has caught the attention of the Porcupine Warriors with his impressive performances, as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming season.
Abban, who was previously on loan at Tamale City from Medeama, has emerged as a key target for Asante Kotoko's head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, following the club's unsuccessful attempt to sign Rwandan international Patrick Sibomana.
Abban's standout stats from last season, including two goals and five assists in 19 matches for the Mauves and Yellows, have made him a valuable asset. However, it remains unclear whether Medeama will be willing to part ways with the midfielder, who has just eight months remaining on his current contract.
Abban joined Medeama from Asokwa Deportivo ahead of the 2020-2021 Ghana football season and has since established himself as a key player for the club.
