Asante Kotoko have opened negotiations with former Accra Lions centre-back Musah Hamzata as they look to sharpen their defence ahead of the new Ghana Premier League season, Kickgh.com understands.
The 22-year-old, who featured in 22 matches and netted three goals in the 2024/25 season, has become one of the league’s most sought-after defenders after delivering standout performances despite Accra Lions’ relegation from the Ghanaian topflight.
Hamzata’s dominance in the air and authoritative presence at the back have drawn attention from Medeama SC, Aduana Stars and Nations FC, who are also vying for his services.
The 25-time GPL champions Kotoko are seeking reinforcements across their backline after an inconsistent run last season, and Hamzata is regarded as a priority target.
Talks remain ongoing, with all four clubs hopeful of securing a deal for the promising defender ahead of the 2025/26 football season.
