Asante Kotoko’s Head of Sporting Affairs, Kwesi Appiah, has emphasized the need for the club to win the Ghana Premier League (GPL) this season to honor their life patron, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Speaking in an interview on Akoma 87.9 FM, Appiah expressed his belief in the team’s ability to claim the league title and secure qualification for continental football next season.

“I believe the coach knows that he should do everything possible to ensure we qualify for Africa next season,” Appiah remarked.

The former Black Stars coach also highlighted the impressive quality of the current squad and the significant financial support from Otumfuo. He noted that winning the league would be a meaningful way to acknowledge the King’s efforts.

“Looking at the players we have now and the investment the King is making, I believe it would be an honor to win the league and qualify for Africa next season to make him happy,” he added.

Appiah went on to praise the team’s recent form and expressed optimism about their title chances. “So far, we are playing very well, and by God's help, I feel that if we continue fighting, we will automatically win the GPL title.”

As things stand, Kotoko are sixth in the league table with 28 points, just two points behind current leaders Kpando Heart of Lions, leaving everything to play for in the coming weeks.
